Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
  • Knowledge and microscopic identification of human organs, with particular regard to the oral cavity, gastrointestinal tract and lymphoid organs;
  • Learning how to apply the knowledge, use correct terminology, and knowing the technical procedures;
  • The student must possess the essential tools for the development of the study, clinical research and laboratory practice.
Syllabus:
  1. General structure of the gut and tissue components of the various organs.
  2. Study of digestive system organs, digestive system accessory glands and lymphoid organs.
  3. Oral cavity, salivary glands and tooth.
  4. Oral cavity embryology (oral mucosa, tongue and palate) and tooth embryology (enamel, dentin, dental pulp, cementum, periodontum, periodontal ligament).
  5. Teeth eruption.
