Course code:68105
Catarina Godinho Santana
Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
Transmit to the students basic concepts of physiology which serves as the basis for the understanding of body function.
To study the function of the organs and systems and their regulatory mechanisms (hormonal and neural).
Make the student realize that the overriding principle of physiology is the interaction of several regulatory mechanisms to maintain the internal environment constant, a process that is necessary for the function of the human body.
At the end of CU, the students should be able to:
- Properly use the terminology of physiology.
- Apply their knowledge to describe the interaction of the systems necessary to maintain a integrity of the human body.
- Realize the goal of the methods used in the functional assessment of the human body.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the fundamental concepts of physiology that support the practice of laboratory biomedical sciences applied in health and disease.
- Demonstrate the ability for self-learning and scientific update on issues taught.
