Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The aim of this curricular unit is the acquisition of fundamental concepts regarding the pathophysiology of human systems and organs.
Students will learn to:
- Use a clinical terminology shared with other health professionals.
- Debate the human disorders with other students and with other health professionals.
- Understand the clinical and laboratorial features according to pathophysiology changes.
- Understand data of exams according to pathophysiology changes.
Syllabus:
- Basic terminology and concepts on pathophysiology.
- Cell and tissue damage. Cell damage, adaptation and death.
- Pathology of blood and hematopoietic organs.
- Pathology of cardiovascular disorders.
- Disorders of the arteries: hypertension and atherosclerosis.
- Pathology of the Respiratory System.
- Pathology of the renal disorders.
- Pathology of the Endocrine Glands.
- Diabetes and pathology of the Endocrine Glands.
- Mineral metabolism and metabolic bone disorders.
- Pathology of gastrointestinal disease.
- Pathology of the liver, biliary tract and exocrine pancreas disorders.
- Pathology of the Nervous System disorders.
