Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The unit of Dental Materials aims of the teaching materials used by dental technicians. It is intended that students apprehend the basics of the microstructure of materials and their handling and application, as well as the basic principles of biocompatibility and its standards. Will be addressed Materials Technology, with particular emphasis on composition, classification, manipulation, and the correlation between the structure of matter and the properties of each material. As a final objectives it is intended that students become able to:
- Select.
- Handle.
- To evaluate the performance of the material.
- Recognizing the limitations of the materials.
- Understanding the failure mechanisms of materials.
- Use technical-scientific language standard in order to to work in partnership with Dentists, Dental Surgeons, Maxillo-facial Surgeons and Oncologists, fabricating all devices essential to oral and maxillo-facial rehabilitation with scientific and technical rigor.
