Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
This curricular unit intends to present the main ethical and deontological principles to consider in health professions and more specifically in the nutritionist role. In the end of the curricular unit, the student should identify these principles and solve the main challenges in the profession related to subjects like conflicts of interest, privacy and confidentiality of data as well as the rights and duties in the profession. Additionally the student should know the role of ethical commissions in health as well as their applicability including the procedures in a project application.
Syllabus:
- General principles in health professions and specific principles from nutritionist.
- XXI century challenges in bioethics: Euthanasia, Medically assisted procriation and voluntary interruption of pregnancy.
- Bioethics in investigation.
- Ethics and deontology principles of nutritionists: structure and aim of the code.
