Actions directed to endow students with critical thinking and analysis of the CU will be valued.
It is equally intended that students acquire knowledge from Nutritional Biochemistry and Endocrine Pathology, including interactions between food, organic energy status and its physiopathology.
Syllabus:
Lectures:
- Metabolic fuels, distribution, and energy expenditure.
- Basal and resting energy expenditure.
- Physiologic status, energy expenditure and hormonal regulation.
- Obesity biochemistry.
- Diabetes biochemistry.
- Dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis biochemistry.
- Clinical biochemistry.
Theoretical / practical classes:
Biochemistry of Chronic and Metabolic Diseases: Metabolic syndrome, obesity, dyslipoproteinemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus.
