Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The first objective of this Curricular Unit is to provide students with essential knowledge of basic physiology (biological compartments, cellular excitability, intercellular communication). This knowledge permits to switch to further approaches, such as studying the concept of homeostasis, the organization of the integration and control systems as the nervous system. By the end of the semester, muscle physiology also will be studied with particular relevance to the smooth muscle.
In theoretical-practice class, students will be encouraged to apply the knowledge acquired in theoretical lessons and develop skills to solve problems. Various methods used to assess human body function will be also presented and discussed.
The course will allow the student to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for understanding the curricular unit of Applied Physiology in the 1st half of the 2nd year of the degree.
