Learning outcomes of the curricular unit:
The CU Pathology and Diet Therapy II comprises the pathophysiological aspects of the disease in a systematic and integrated manner, its aetiology and proper nutritional therapy.
Skills to be developed:
- Understanding the relationship between nutrition and disease.
- Establish nutritional diagnostics and tailor nutritional intervention, practicing evidence-based nutrition.
Syllabus:
Lectures:
- Techniques for nutritional support.
- Other systemic diseases (hematologic, infectious, respiratory, dermatological, neurological and renal).
- Oncological disease.
- Skeletal and joint disorders.
Theoretical / practical classes:
The theoretical/practical classes will consist in the discussion of clinical cases and assisted practice in the Nutrition Consultation at the Egas Moniz Dental Clinic. All content taught in lectures will be addressed in a practical way.
Tutorials:
Oriented study to better understand clinical cases.
